Calling all cilantro lovers… this one is for you!

This is our family twist on this classic hummus dip. Our recipe for organic Cilantro Lime Hummus is super addicting and packed full of delicious flavors. If you can’t get enough cilantro and lime, then this hummus is right up your alley.

Whole Food Plant Based, plant based, refined sugar free, gluten free and no highly processed ingredients.

Store bought just wasn’t cutting it and had a weird after taste.

Our family has a pretty refined palette. Maybe that’s because of my husbands culinary background and him always preparing us magical dishes, or they just know great food. Either way, they stuck their noses up to any form of hummus until we started making this at home.

Simple Organic Cilantro-lime Hummus from scratch

| Ingredients |

  • 2 15.5 OZ cans Organic canned chickpeas (we use these for quick batches and remove the skin on each by rinsing them under water – you can purchase raw and cook them at home as well. – Recipe on this coming soon)
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • 6 TBSP tahini paste
  • 1 TSP salt
  • 1 TSP garlic powder (more if needed for flavor)
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 100% pure avocado oil – this will depend per batch but we start with 1/4 cup and add as needed.
  • 1 -1.5 CUP fresh cilantro leaves (packed)
  • 1/2 CUP water
  • pepper to taste

| Process |

  1. COMBINE | Add chickpeas, garlic to your food processor and puree until most of the chunks are in a powdery texture.
  2. Add cilantro and 1/4 cup of water. While processor is running, add tahini, salt, lemon juice and avocado oil starting with 1/4 cup. Blend until you see that most of the ingredients are mixed. Check, and if the consistency is too thick still, run processor and slowly add more avocado oil OR water. Blend until you reach desired silky smooth consistency.
  3. CHILL | Spread in a serving bowl and drizzle with 100% pure avocado oil!
  4. For a little food styling, add a few chickpeas to the middle.
  5. ROLL or PRESS | Roll into roughly 1-inch balls or press into baking dish*
  6. ENJOY | Tada!! Enjoy with warm pita bread, favorite veggies or crackers.

TIPS & TRICKS

*Cilantro – we like a ton of cilantro in this and typically start with 1 whole bunch and add from there. My husband will taste and perfect the flavor to our families liking!

*Add serrano peppers – this is a favorite trick my husband does that adds a nice kick to our hummus! We add this separate from what we give our kids but my hubby loves the added KICK!

*Add CHICKEN – we make this with grilled chicken kabobs and it’s DELICIOUS!
